Hey there gamers! Brodus here with a review for one of the first, and still very memorable games I’ve played on the Xbox 360. Devil May Cry 4.

Devil May Cry 4 is a hack and slash based on a fight between angels and demons, where you play as two half-demon half-human protagonists fighting to defeat the demons and their goal of controlling the world through false and corrupted religion.

The fourth installment in the series is fantastic for what it is; A fast paced hack and slash. The combat is very quick, laced with a ton of combos and has great controls. Another great part about the combat is that I found it never became boring. The game suits you up with two separate characters, Nero and Dante as you progress, and the game is always fitting you with consistent upgrades, unlockables, and new combos. And when I say upgrades, I mean new weapons; from Nero’s devil arm to Dante’s portable mini gun in a suitcase, Pandora’s Box. This game is great to pick up and jump into as it launches you into the game rather quickly, and while the game isn’t long it’s great to run through a few times and offers a selection of difficulties.

Devil May Cry has always been a fantastic series, and that’s where I found this game lacking. Devil May Cry 4 did not follow or support the story very well. Even the main character, Nero, had never been previously mentioned in any of the games, but they drop him in as though the fan base already knows who he is. The story does progress to a solid point and standing alone it does have an alright story, but if you’ve followed the other games it may throw you off a little. Or a lot.

Devil May Cry 4 is great, super fun, and very cool. Where it lacks in story I found it made up in gameplay. This game is alright too if you’ve never played any of the other games in the series as well as it doesn’t support the continued story very well anyhow, though you might be confused with some things in the game. Take it for what it is, a fun hack and slash, and you’ll be sure to have a great time.
